Theory and Algorithms in Image Reconstruction

Achieving high contrast while enhancing spatial and temporal resolution with fewer measurements
is a central goal in image reconstruction across various applications. Theoretical advancements and
algorithmic developments play a crucial role in this endeavor. Techniques from compressed sens-
ing have proven effective in significantly reducing the amount of data needed, thereby speeding up
data acquisition, minimizing motion artifacts, and reducing radiation exposure. Traditional iterative
algorithms that incorporate prior information have been extensively used for image reconstruction.
More recently, a new class of algorithms leveraging machine learning, particularly deep learning, has
emerged, offering promising solutions in image reconstruction and related tasks.
This workshop explores main applications, theoretical foundations, and algorithmic strategies for
image reconstruction and related tasks. We cover the physical modeling of photoacoustic tomography,
inverse problems in imaging involving neural networks and deep learning for image reconstruction,
image denoising, image segmentation, and image registration.
