Mission statement
The applied mathematics group was founded in 2012, when Markus Haltmeier was appointed as a full Professor at the department of Mathematics of the University of Innsbruck. The goal of the group is the development of innovative statistical and mathematical methods for applied sciences including inverse problems, computed tomography, signal and image processing and data science in general. We thereby focus on the practical relevance of our methods as well as on their rigorous mathematical foundation. Current research includes the following:
- Regularization of inverse Problems
- Deep learning techniques for image reconstruction
- Photoaccustic tomography
- Compressed Sensing
